Do Certificate of Merits (piano) help you in any way when applying for a college?
I’m just wondering if you’ve completed the CM or near done like around Level 8, 9, or 10 then does that help when you’re applying for a college. Any general college I mean it probably will help for music universities but what about like UC Berkley and Stanford? And if you’ve gotten awards and places in guilds, national competitions, and recitals that kind of stuff?

Your previous qualifications are not very important in an audition at a major conservatoire. Your performance at the entrance audition is c.75% (including performance skills such as sigh-playing), aural/music theory tests 15% and other merits such as grades, prizes, performances and interview (if any) is c.10%. I have taken for the UG degree students with mediocre school grades, without public performance experience, but can tell you that all of them were very skilled performers, sensitive, had great musical intelligence and a good general music culture.
