How does the LED light in a Nintendo Wii change colors?
I always thought that there were three different color led’s in close proximity to the light, and that they would just alternate, but I don’t know if that’s the case here.
You might be right – three separate LEDs used – but the most common size of LED is 5mm so I can’t imagine them being used in the Wii as they might be too big. Maybe three miniature LEDs (at 2mm each), but my guess is that the Wii uses a bi-colour (or tri-colour) LED where two LEDs are in one case. They either light separately to make individual colours, or they light periodically (or together) to blend and make a third colour (red and green, for example, when lit together would make a yellowy/orange light).
As I’ve not taken my Wii apart to check I can’t say for sure.
