What are good websites like “Etsy” that sell handmade clothing/other handmade goods. Besides Ebay?
I started my own business designing dresses and other clothing and making them myself, i use etsy but its kind of low traffic. Any high traffic sites that i could use to sell stylish retro prom/wedding/cocktail dresses? BESIDES EBAY,CRAIGLIST, Sites like that
Artfire is similar to etsy, but considered by some a bit classier and the merchandise is more art, less craft. The problem with etsy is not low traffic, the problem is too much junk and clutter being sold on the site. I would estimate three quarters of the stuff on etsy isn’t worth listing, such as paper clip earrings, and painted tennis ball “sculptures.” There are too many people selling too much stuff. If you want to make your merchandise stand out from the crowd, selling on your own website might be a better solution. You won’t be competing with as many other sellers who might be selling similar merchandise as you. There are lots of webhosts who will register your domain, host the site, and give you all the tools you need to set up your own webstore. Make your website domain name indicative of your merchandise, (eg: retro-rita.com or classofthepast.com or something similar, that way people will find your site and remember your site name.) spend a few dollars on advertising in places where retro-fans congregate, and you might be more successful being independent than by being yet another etsy seller. It’s more work but it might be worth it. http://www.artfire.com/
